FELICIA D. HENDERSON (Writer, Director, Producer), is renowned for creating “Soul Food,” the Emmy Award-nominated and three-time NAACP Image Award-winning drama on Showtime, marking television’s first successful African American one-hour drama series. Her recent achievements include serving as the Showrunner, Head Writer, and Executive Producer for Netflix’s vampire hunter drama, “First Kill.” She co-created and executive produced “The Quad,” a drama that unfolds on the campus of a fictional HBCU, and held co-executive producer roles for Marvel’s “The Punisher” and “Empire.” Henderson has penned and produced episodes for high-profile series such as “Gossip Girl” and “Fringe.”
A lifelong comic book enthusiast, Henderson has contributed to several DC Comics titles, including “Teen Titans,” “Justice Society of America,” and “Static Shock.” She holds a B.A. and an M.F.A. from UCLA and identifies as an artivist, deeply committed to promoting race, thought, and gender equality. Through scholarships and arts and education initiatives, she supports teens in underserved communities. In addition, she offers free writing workshops for survivors of domestic violence at support shelters throughout Los Angeles, CA. Drawing inspiration from her mother’s Mississippi heritage, which instilled in her a warrior spirit and a love for candied yams and banana pudding, Felicia is a native of Pasadena, CA.
